One million copies of this new hit game have already been sold in just a few days.
French developer Sandfall Interactive’s first turn-based RPG, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, was a hit. Kepler Interactive reported Sunday morning that the game had sold over one million copies only days after its April 24 release.
Within 24 hours, Expedition 33 sold 500,000 copies, according to the developer team. The current statistic includes copies sent to stores but not Xbox Game Pass members, so the game’s overall player count is likely greater.
A Unique Dark Fantasy Story
Expedition 33 features a group of Expeditioners who try to overcome the Paintress, a mysterious person who paints a number on a monolith every year. Everyone of the assigned age dies promptly, steadily reducing the population each year.
Many praise the game’s “gorgeously made and well-considered world” and “a solid, enjoyable RPG.” No doubt, people love the game’s intricate world-building and turn-based gameplay.
Players may play Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
A Hit Despite Other Title Hype
Expedition 33 succeeded despite the excitement surrounding The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, which released last week on April 22. Four days after debut, the game had 4 million players.
A high early result is hardly surprising considering the original Oblivion’s popularity (it sold three million copies in a year), but Game Pass also helped. PC and Xbox customers may access the remaster via their subscriptions, making it simpler.
